Job Description:
The Special Education Resource Unit (SERU) is a specialist statewide operational unit within the Inclusive Teaching and Learning Directorate. The Conductor, who is based at SERU, implements Conductive Education, a specialized educational approach for children and young people with significant physical disabilities within an educational site.

As the Conductor, you will:

  • Integrate the principles of Conductive Education into the curriculum, including individual learning programs.
  • Apply Conductive Education expertise and experience to varied age groups 8-Year 12 in target sites.
  • Support and assist children and students with disability and learning difficulties to participate in the curriculum.
  • Facilitate organisational/professional development for educators, parents/carers in Conductive Education.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of work practices and services.

Essential qualifications:
A qualification in Conductive Education recognised by the Peto Institute, Budapest, Hungary; Wolverhampton University, Birmingham, United Kingdom or a degree in a relevant allied health discipline with a background in the provision of programs based on the principles of Conductive Education.

Special Conditions:
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education Care) training course which will be required to be updated every three years.
