Base Support Officers have considerable stakeholder and customer engagement responsibilities.
They are required to understand our business and develop a clear understanding of the scope of Security and Estate Group deliverables and the Service Delivery Framework that underpins service integration and collaboration practices to achieve Defence’s capability outcomes.
You will be required to represent your Department at various forums engaging with both internal and external stakeholders with professionalism and confidence.
The APS 4 Base Support Officer is accountable under limited direction to undertake moderately complex activities and tasks in support of base operations and base planning and coordination. They will work within a framework of legislation, established principles, work practices and procedures in accordance with Defence’s mission and business objectives.
They will take individual responsibility for completion of work tasks and seek guidance when required. The APS 4 will exercise initiative and judgement when supporting customers and their outcomes and require limited guidance. They are expected to plan and complete activities and tasks, selecting methods and resolving issues that arise. They will be provided with assistance for the more complex issues.

About our Team
Security and Estate Group, Service Delivery Division, North Central Zone is currently looking to fill one position at the APS 4 level, with the intention to create a merit pool to potentially fill further similar vacant APS 4 positions.
The Base Management Team monitors and responds to base service delivery issues, coordinates the development of whole of base plans (e.g. Safety, Security and Emergency) across the Defence sites by reviewing and monitoring Base Management arrangements to ensure currency and consistency with service delivery requirements.
The Team works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to assure prescribed product and services standards are met within agreed time frames. Additionally, the team builds and sustains effective relationships and actively participate in team work and group activities.
The Team also evaluates activities and processes for compliance with legislation, regulation or standards, design and recommend solutions to whole of base operation issues that may be affecting the achievement of desired outcomes.
The Team also assess risks and provide guidance in relation to risk management strategies and develops, rehearses and maintains whole of base plans and instructions to achieve business objectives.
The position and team is located at Kokoda Barracks Canungra and is responsible for managing the Base and other sites across the region, some of which can be two to four hours’ drive from Canungra.
