Job Description

Our Finance team have an fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to join their dynamic team. The Assistant Accountant supports the management and reporting of financial impacts of new, renewed and amended leases in accordance with IFRS and GAAP accounting standards. Responsibilities include P&L and balance sheet analysis and management, month end journals, account reconciliation.

This role requires a base level of accounting knowledge and attention to detail. Importance is placed on strong internal controls including the adherence to SOX controls and audit requirements.  We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, attention to detail and a pro-active approach to tasks.

What are the main focus points of the role?

  • Validating lease data and critical accounting attributes for new, renewed and amended leases
  • Participating in the month end process and record lease journal entries
  • Managing balance sheet accounts including lease payments, ROUA/liability and sub-ledger reconciliations
  • Completing required monthly reporting
  • Ad hoc analysis for key stakeholders including Commercial Finance, Tax and FP&A
  •  Annual and ad hoc reporting to the Corporate Controller Group
  • Ensuring SOX controls are met and adequate audit documentation is maintained
  • Supporting ongoing enhancements to the accounting  system
  • Supporting the relationship with both Real Estate and external stakeholders as required

 

Qualifications

  • Studying or hold a qualification in accounting
  • High level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy in work
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively within a team
  • Actively seeks and accepts constructive feedback to build skills and competencies
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills
  • Ideally prior experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated skills using excel
  • Flexible and adaptive to change
  • Knowledgeable in balance sheet reconciliations is preferable
