The Role
The major role of the Airfield Safety and Operations Manager (ASOM) is to manager a broad range of airfield activities and resources at Swartz Barracks, Oakey, and flying training areas. As well as providing stakeholders with timely and accurate aviation safety advice. The ASOM is responsible for the efficient and effective use of airfield resources, including aviation fuel storage and delivery assets both at Oakey and Brymaroo.
The ASOM will provide specialised, safety and general aviation advice to the Commander Flying Operations Oakey and the Base Manager – Darling Downs (BM-DD) including Aircraft Emergency Management.
The ASOM also plays a pivotal strategic role by assisting the BM-DD with the development of aviation related plans and projects, and the management of aviation fuel storage and delivery assets.
About our Team
Airfield Operations manage the safety of the main and auxiliary airfields. This enables the safe operation of aircraft and support vehicles, allowing the scheduled training to be maintained in accordance with the directed training tempo.

The ideal candidate must have:
Previous airport operational experience
An analytical approach to problem solving and capacity to produce results within a given time frame
Commitment to a continuous improvement philosophy
Exceptional stakeholder management skills
Strong communications skill (both verbal and written) with the ability to influence at all levels
