About the Role: 

The Housing Specialist works closely with the Housing Operations Manager and Tenancy Officer to manage Youngcare SDA housing enquiries and allocate participants to Youngcare housing options that meet their environmental and functional needs.  The role also sits within the wider Development and Housing team, giving a broad scope and variety of tasks.  

The Housing Specialist supports Youngcare participants to maintain long-term tenancies by linking with the tenant, family and service providers to monitor and adjust supports whilst transitioning into their new homes.  The role is responsible for maintaining excellence in housing outcomes by providing expert clinical advice in relation to NDIS, SDA and SIL processes. The role will also see you managing and engaging with SIL providers to ensure that participant support needs can be met within identified housing options, and SIL obligations are also met. 

This role will provide an impartial and objective review of shortlisted applicants, once you have collected critical information in accordance with Youngcare Policies and procedures, with the objective of ensuring long-term sustainable tenancies. The role will utilise Clinician experience during the Tenant Selection and Allocation process, including consideration of SIL support approvals. 

Success in this role requires frequent ongoing communication and reporting across stakeholders to ensure Youngcare Management, Board and Partners are kept informed of tenancy outcomes across the portfolio.  The role will also monitor and manage service bookings within the NDIS Portal.  

Your exceptional communication skills, time management and desire to produce efficient and quality outcomes to meet the specific needs of Youngcare’s clients will ensure your fit within the team. 

Your Skills and Attributes: 

  • Demonstrated experience working within the NDIS Framework and knowledge of SDA and the Health and Disability industry is ESSENTIAL. 
  • Exceptional communication skills to liaise effectively with management, consultants, contractor’s and tenants to ensure outcomes are met. 
  • Proven time management skills with a highly process driven approach to manage deadlines. 
  • Proven ability to take ownership of projects and tasks with demonstrated proactive problem-solving skills and a results focus. 
  • Highly motivated, committed, team-focused and reliable. 
  • Exceptional ethical standards and attention to detail. 
  • Strong computer skills across Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook & SharePoint.
