The Opportunity
The Airport Pavement Research Program (APRP) was established at UniSC in 2016 and is currently funded by industry research grants through to 2026. The APRP undertakes practical and applied research and technology adaptation to develop, demonstrate and promote solutions to real world challenges encountered by the Australian airport pavement industry.
You will support the Director, APRP in both research and management functions. You will plan and conduct research, manage, supervise and support undergraduate and post-graduate research students, liaise with industry partners and funders, as well as perform APRP management administration and governance reporting, under the guidance of the Director, APRP.
Y*ou will*

  • undertake researcher and provide leadership in research and support research training;
  • maintain substantial involvement in the airport pavement industry through which discipline knowledge and skills are applied to solving problems in the real world; and
  • provide support to the Director, APRP in the management, promotion and governance reporting of the APRP.

About you
You possess a positive and engaging demeanour, enabling excellence for research outcomes, colleagues and project partners. Your well-developed interpersonal skills and exceptional written and verbal communication allow you to successfully communicate research findings. You collaborate cohesively and share your expertise to contribute to the ongoing success of research outcomes.
You will possess:

  • a Doctoral research degree in a relevant field, or completed a master’s level research degree and be well progressed towards completion of a Doctorate;
  • research experience and potential including for example: refereed publications, participation in research teams and sound knowledge of research methodologies relevant to airport pavements;
  • established and strong relationships with Australian airport industry stakeholders, including the Department of Defence, private airport owners and the design/construction industry;
  • industry-based experience in airport pavement engineering, including design, construction, maintenance and evaluation;
  • strong personal qualities and collegial approaches that contribute to the development and maintenance of a positive academic environment which is conducive to engagement and achievement for both staff and students; and
  • the desire to participate in academic development activities and continue to learn and improve as an effective academic.
