As a large privately owned livestock transport company operating in Northern Australia, Road Trains of Australia (RTA) prides itself in having over 15 years of experience in safe & dependable transportation of livestock, petroleum and bulk commodities throughout Western Australia, Northern Territory and Queensland using their fleet of 90+ prime movers.

About the role 

Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, the Sandblaster/Painter is responsible for carrying out quality and timely spray painting and sand blasting to either refurbish or repair second-hand equipment along with new machine repair, detail, re-colour of all RTA equipment in accordance with best industry practices. 

Duties

  • Sand blasting and spray painting of various types of equipment and machinery 
  • Preparation and detailing of new machine build requirements
  • Using spray guns, adjust nozzles and paint mixes to enable proper paint flow and coating thickness
  • Sand equipment surfaces to remove flaws
  • Spray prepared surfaces with specified amounts of primers and finish coatings
  • Paint areas by hand that cannot be reached with a spray gun
  • Complete accurate administrative tasks in relation to service activities, including submitting job sheets and timesheets
  • Maintain Cleanliness & Efficiency of Paint & Blast booths as well as all Paint & Blast Equipment.
     

Skills & experience 

  • Australian/New Zealand recognised qualification (Certificate III in Surface Preparation & Coating Application)
  • Basic computer skills
  • Current valid driver’s licence
  • Ability to work under time constraints
  • Ability to work safely as part of a team
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy
